Demeter Chiparus – one of the most famous sculptors and is being mostly sold in the section of Art Deco era.

Traditionally we identify three factors that impact on the creativity of the Romanian masters: “Diaghilev’s Russian Ballet”, the art of Egypt and to a lesser extent an avant-garde art. Some sculptures by Chiparus were directly inspired by Russian troupe dancers – for example,  sculptural group “Persian Dance” have portrait features of Vaslav Nijinsky and Ida Rubinstein.
Art of Ancient Egypt and the East became a Parisian fashion after opening the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922 and is also reflected in the works by Chiparus. There are a number of sculptures depicting the Egyptian queen Cleopatra, as well as the “Egyptian dancer” in the work of Dmitry Chiparusa – Colin and Claire.

Chiparus works are an absolute reflection of his time, embodied the spirit of 1920-1930. Based on the oldest Parisian tradition of high-quality decorative art, they have combined the elegance and luxury, embodied the essence of his time.

Artistic interest in the work Chiparus appeared in the 1970s, and since the 1990s. It is constantly increasing.
